The Madrid extends run before opening
The Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming world premiere of The Madrid, by Liz Flahive ('From Up Here,' "Nurse Jackie"), directed by two-time Obie Award winner Leigh Silverman ('Chinglish,' 'From Up Here'), has extended its run by one week and will now play through to 21 Apr 2013
The show, which will open at NY City Center Stage I on 26 Feb 2013, following previews from 05 Feb 2013, was originally scheduled to close on 14 Apr 2013.
The Madrid will star four-time Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Edie Falco ("Nurse Jackie," The House of Blue Leaves, "The Sopranos") as 'Martha,' and will also feature Tony Award nominee John Ellison Conlee (The Full Monty), Heidi Schreck (Circle Mirror Transformation - Off-B'way), Phoebe Strole (Spring Awakening), two-time Tony Award winner Frances Sternhagen (The Heiress, The Good Doctor), Christopher Evan Welch (Festen), Seth Clayton and Brooke Ashley Laine.
The Madrid: Martha (Edie Falco) is a kindergarten teacher with a life many would want: a loving husband, a devoted daughter. But when she leaves it all behind, it's up to her daughter Sarah (Phoebe Strole) to pick up the pieces.
The creative team will include David Zinn (scenic design), Emily Rebholtz (costume design), Jeff Croiter (lighting design) and Jill BC Du Boff (sound design).
