The Life and Death of Pier Paolo Pasolini at the June Havoc Theatre

The Life and Death of Pier Paolo Pasolini, by Michel Azama, translated by Elizabeth Williamson & Nicholas Elliott, at the Abington's June Havoc Theatre from the 22 Nov - 4 Dec 2005. Presented as part of the ACT FRENCH Festival.

The Life and Death of Pier Paolo Pasolini: When the Italian poet and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini was beaten to death in Rome 30 years ago by a boy he picked up in the Trastavere, was his murder the result of a criminal political conspiracy or a simple case of self-defense, as was argued?

This psychodrama examines lingering suspicions that the artist was murdered by neo-fascist elements and presents a picture of Italian politics and society in the decades following WWII. Itexamines both the iconoclasts conflicted relationship with Italian Communism and the notorious, troubled love life that left him in a life-long struggle against homophobia and the suppression of his now-celebrated films, in which he developed his 'technique of the sacred.'

The cast for The Life and Death of Pier Paolo Pasolini, directed by Elisabeth Williamson, features Drew Cortese (Pasolini), Dan Domingues (Davoli), Ian Oldaker (Pelosi) and Derek Lucci (Those Against).

The Life and Death of Pier Paolo Pasolini design team features Hannah Davis, Nicholas Elliott and Anjeanette Stokes.
