The Curious Incident to close on 4 September 2016

The Tony Award-winning Best Play The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has announced that it will play its final performance at Broadway's Barrymore Theatre on 4 September 2016. Upon closing the production will have played a total of 23 previews and 800 regular performances, making it the longest-running play on Broadway in more than 10 years. It will embark on a U.S. National Tour in October 2016.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time opened at the Barrymore Theatre on 5 October 2014 to excellent reviews, following previews from 10 September.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is written by Simon Stephens, adapted from the novel by Mark Haddon, and directed by Marianne Elliott.

Synopsis: "Fifteen-year old Christopher has an extraordinary brain; he is exceptionally intelligent but ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he falls under suspicion for killing his neighbor's dog, he sets out to identify the true culprit, which leads to an earth-shattering discovery and a journey that will change his life forever."

The principal cast of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time includes Tyler Lea (Christopher Boone), Rosie Benton (Siobhan), Andrew Long (Ed), Nancy Robinette (Mrs. Alexander) and Enid Graham (Judy), with Benjamin Wheelwright playing the role of Christopher at certain performances.

The ensemble features Keren Dukes, Stephanie Roth Haberle, Mercedes Herrero, Richard Hollis, Ben Horner, David Manis, Tom Patrick Stephens, Tiffany Rachelle Stewart and Timothy Wright.

At the 2015 Tony Awards, the production won a total of five awards including Best Play, Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play (for Alex Sharp), Best Direction of a Play (for Marianne Elliott), Best Scenic Design of a Play (for Bunny Christie and Finn Ross) and Best Lighting Design of a Play (for Paule Constable).

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time is designed by three-time Olivier Award-winner Bunny Christie, with lighting by Tony Award-winner Paule Constable, video design by Finn Ross, movement by Scott Graham and Olivier Award-winner Steven Hoggett for Frantic Assembly, music by Adrian Sutton and sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph.

The play is produced on Broadway by Stuart Thompson, Tim Levy for NT America, Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures Inc., Nick Starr and Chris Harper for NT Productions, Bob Boyett, Roger Berlind, Scott M. Delman, Roy Furman, Glass Half Full Productions, Ruth Hendel, Jon B. Platt, Prime Number Group, Scott Rudin, Triple Play Broadway and The Shubert Organization.
