'The Baker's Wife' completes Off-Broadway cast

Classic Stage Company has set complete casting for The Baker's Wife off Broadway, beginning performances October 23 ahead of a November 11 opening.

Joining the previously announced Oscar winner Ariana DeBose as Genvieve and Golden Globe winner Scott Bakula as Aimable Castagnet are Savannah Lee Birdsong as Simone, Arnie Burton as Teacher, Tony Award nominee Robert Cuccioli as Claude, Alma Cuervo as Therese, Tony nominee Kevin Del Aguila as Antoine, Samantha Gershman as Inez, Nathan Lee Graham as Marquis, Tony nominee Judy Kuhn as Denise, Sally Murphy as Hortense, Manu Narayan as Barnaby, Mason Olshavsky as Phillipe, Kevin William Paul as Dominique, Will Roland as Priest, and Hailey Thomas as Nicole. Understudies are Bill English, Zachary Freier-Harrison, and Kelly Lester.

Based on the French film La Femme du Boulanger by Marcel Pagnol and Jean Giono, The Baker's Wife follows a baker and his wife whose arrival in a small village stirs up gossip, temptation, romance, and mischief. Premiering in 1976, the musical has never received a full production in NYC until now.

The Baker’s Wife has a book by Tony Award winner Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof) and music and lyrics by Oscar, Grammy, and Tony Award winner Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, The Queen of Versailles). Gordon Greenberg directs.

The creative team for The Baker’s Wife also includes choreographer Stephanie Klemons, music director Charlie Alterman, set designer Jason Sherwood, costume designer Catherine Zuber, lighting designer Bradley King, and sound designer Jason Crystal.
