The Apple Tree: Kristin Chenoweth injury delays first preview by one day


The Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of The Apple Tree has delayed its first preview, scheduled for 27 Nov, by one day, due to star Kristin Chenoweth sustaining an injury. An official statement reads: "Ms. Chenoweth was injured during a technical rehearsal over the weekend when she fell off an elevated section of the stage. Despite the fall, Ms. Chenoweth continued rehearsals and sought medical attention afterwards."

The Apple Tree, with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, book by Bock and Harnick with additional book material by Jerome Coopersmith and directed by Gary Griffin, will still open at Studio 54 on 14 Dec 2006. The musical is running through to 11 Mar 2007.

The Apple Tree is three one-act musicals about men, women and a little thing called temptation. The musical is based on �The Diary of Adam and Eve� by Mark Twain; �The Lady or the Tiger?� by Frank R. Stockton; and �Passionella� by Jules Feiffer, with additional book material by Jerome Coopersmith.

Directed by Gary Griffin, The Apple Tree stars Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth (Eve, Princess Barbara, Passionella), Brian d�Arcy James (Adam, Sanjar, Flip) and Marc Kudisch (Snake) with Walter Charles (King Arik, Employer, Producer).

The company of The Apple Tree will also feature Meggie Nicole Cansler, Julie Connors, Sarah Jane Everman, Jennifer Taylor Farrell, Justin Keyes, Lorin Lataro, Mike McGowan, Sean Palmer, Dennis Stowe and Eric Santagata.

The musical will feature choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision by Rob Fisher. Set design will be by John Lee Beatty, with costumes by Jess Goldstein, lighting by Donald Holder and sound by Dan Moses Schreier.
