The 2016 Tony Awards: And the Nominees are...

The 70th Annual Tony Award nominations were announced today at the Diamond Horseshoe at the Paramount Hotel in midtown Manhattan by 'The Book of Mormon' alumni Tony nominee Andrew Rannells and Tony winner Nikki M. James, who replaced previously announced Tony winner Patina Miller to do the honours.

The Awards ceremony will be hosted by Tony winner James Corden on Sunday, 12 June 2016 at New York's Beacon Theatre and will be broadcast live on CBS.

Amongst this year's crop of nominated Broadway productions, hit musical Hamilton broke the record for most nominations in Broadway history, picking up a total of 16 nods (beating the previous record of 15, which was jointly held by 'The Producers' and 'Billy Elliot'.) As for the plays this year, Eclipsed and The Humans lead the pack with 6 nominations each.
