"Saturday Night Live" favorite Taran Killam makes his Broadway debut tonight, taking on the role of King George in the Broadway production of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony Award-winning musical Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. Rory O'Malley played his final performance in the role on January 15.

Taran Killam has been a regular on "SNL" from 2010 to 2016. Other notable screen credits include "12 Years a Slave," "MADtv," "Just Married," "Epic Movie," "My Best Friend's Girl," "Grown Ups 2," "How I Met Your Mother," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," "The Awesomes," "Nature Cat," and "Drunk History."

Taran's wife and "Marvel Cinematic Universe" star Cobie Smulders will also be making her Broadway debut this season, starring alongside Oscar winner Kevin Kline in the Broadway revival of Noel Coward's Present Laughter at the St. James Theatre from March 10, 2017.

The current cast of Hamilton includes Javier Muñoz (Alexander Hamilton), two-time Tony nominee Brandon Victor Dixon (Aaron Burr), Lexi Lawson (Eliza Hamilton), Mandy Gonzalez (Angelica Schuyler), Bryan Terrell Clark (George Washington), Seth Stewart (Marques de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson), Jordan Fisher (John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton), J. The Broadway production of Hamilton officially opened on 6 August 2015 to excellent reviews, following previews from 13 July, and is currently booking through to 5 November 2017.

Hamilton features a book, music, and lyrics by Tony winner Lin-Manuel Miranda, and is inspired by the book "Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow.

Synopsis: "Hamilton is a new musical about the scrappy young immigrant who forever changed America: Alexander Hamilton. From bastard orphan to Washington's right hand man, rebel to war hero, loving husband caught in the country's first sex scandal to Treasury head who made an untrusting world believe in the American economy, Hamilton is an exploration of a political mastermind. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Eliza Hamilton, and lifelong Hamilton friend and foe, Aaron Burr, all attend this revolutionary tale of America's fiery past told through the sounds of the ever-changing nation we've become."

Hamilton is directed by Thomas Kail, with music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, and sound design by Nevin Steinberg.

Hamilton is produced on Broadway by The Public Theater, Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs and Jill Furman.
