Taking Over extends its run at the Public by one week
The Public Theater has extended the run of Taking Over, written and performed by Danny Hoch, directed by Tony Taccone, by one week.
The play opened at the Public's Martinson Theater on 23 Nov 2008, following previews from 7 Nov, for a limited run that was originally scheduled to end on 14 Dec 2008, but will now play through to 21 Dec 2008.
The show opened to good to luke-warm notices Reviews: "Fiery polemical portrait gallery of a play." (NY Times); "Remains sharp throughout and is at times surprisingly moving" (Back Stage); "There's no way "Taking Over" could spark so much outrage if it weren't both engaging and at least partially accurate." (Variety).
Taking Over: Chronicle the current state of gentrification of New York City. Blazing through a fierce spectrum of New Yorkers, Danny gives voice to everyone from the developers evicting locals to make way for lofts, to the bar-hopping career hipsters who buy them, and those left in the wake of both.
