Tue 24 Aug 2004 Sly Fox to close 29 Aug 2004 It has been confirmed that the comedy Sly Fox will close Sunday, 29th Aug 2004 at the Barrymore Theatre The show will have played 22 previews and 173 regular performances. It will play its final performance on Sunday, 29 Aug 2004 at 3pm Sly Fox is written by Larry Gelbart and it features the following cast Richard Kind (Foxwell J. Sly), Bronson Pinchot, Bob Dishy, Richard Libertini, Jason Kravits, Carol Kane, Rachel York, Professor Irwin Corey, Nick Wyman, Larry Storch Richard Kind took over the lead role of 'Foxwell J. Sly' from Richard Dreyfuss on 17 Aug. Other cast changes in the last few weeks have included Bronson Pinchot, formerly playing 'Lawyer Cravern', assumed the role of 'Simon Able', Jason Kravits became the new 'Lawyer Craven', Richard Libertini took over the role of 'Jethro Crouch' from Rene Auberjonois, Rachel York formerly playing 'Miss Fancy', assumed the role of 'Mrs. Truckle' and Carol Kane became the new 'Miss Fancy', Larry Storch assumed the role of 'Police Chief from Peter Scolari. A statement from the Producers said "With great regret, we have decided that the time has come to close the Broadway production of Sly Fox. We have a terrific new cast, but they have joined us at a time of year when it is difficult to build an audience. This problem is compounded by the difficult weeks we face ahead, beginning with the Republican Convention and the traditional downturn of business in September." Directed by Arthur Penn , designed by George Jenkins & Jesse Poleshuck, lighting by Phil Monat, costumes by Albert Wolsky, and produced by Julian Schlossberg, Roy Furman, Ben Sprecher, Michael Gardner, Jim Fantaci, Cheryl Lachowicz, Christine Duncan, Nelle Nugen The play opened on the 1 Apr 2004, following previews from 13 March 2004. Synopsis: Two devious conmen out to rob from the rich to give to themselves. It's the dawn of the Gold Rush in San Francisco, and with everyone falling over themselves with gold fever, Foxwell and his trusty assistant set out to swindle as many as they can.
