'Slave Play' to host digital lottery

Jeremy O. Harris's play is currently in its second Broadway engagement.

The Broadway production of Slave Play at the August Wilson Theatre will host a digital lottery for performances beginning on December 1. The play began performances November 23 and will open on December 2.

Lottery tickets will be $25 each, and each entrant can request one or two tickets per performance. The lottery opens for entries each Monday at noon for that week's performances, and it closes the day before each performance at 9:59 a.m. Winners will be notified at 11 a.m. the day before their chosen performance by email and text, and they will have four hours to claim and purchase their tickets. Lottery ticket availability is limited and subject to change.

After debuting on Broadway in 2019 for a limited run, Slave Play made history in 2020 when it earned 12 Tony Award nominations, the most a play has ever received. Now, Jeremy O. Harris's play is playing a second Broadway engagement. The show follows three interracial couples whose Black partners have lost their attraction to their white partners. The couple attend sex therapy to work through their feelings, and they end up confronting racial traumas and power imbalances in their relationships as they engage in sexual play set on a mock plantation.
