Signature Theatre has set its 2026-27 Off-Broadway season, including four plays to be presented between September 2026 and May 2027, with exact dates to be announced.
The season begins with Melis Aker's Fish, running from September 26 to October 25 at the WP Theater. When 17-year-old Karya's mom spins a wild theory about her brother's disappearance, Karya devises a twisted online experiment to test it. She ventures into the darkest corners of the internet in a search for answers that quickly turns sinister.
The show is a co-production of Signature and WP Theater, in association with New Light Theater Project with consulting producer Noor Theater Company.
Next is King of the Yees by Lauren Yee, just represented in Signature's current season with Mother Russia earlier this spring. Directed by Joshua Kahan Brody, the play is a "kind of true" story about Larry Yee, a major figure in a fraternal organization in San Francisco’s iconic Chinatown, and Lauren, his daughter who goes on a surreal journey through her family history to find him when he goes missing. Performances begin in October 2026.
In February 2027 is the comedy play Miles for Mary by the theatre company The Mad Ones. A high school planning committee's professionalism becomes strained as they try to change the world from within a faculty lounge — that is, organize their annual telethon.
The final production in the season is Eisa Davis's Angela’s Mixtape, running in May 2027. The show is a love letter to her radical California upbringing in a family of activists, including her aunt, Angela Y. Davis. Her search for her own beat unfolds through shifts in memory and time, and her childhood’s soundtrack of hip-hop, soul, pop, and classical music.
Additionally, for one weekend in November, Signature will present free concert performances of Heather Christian's Terce: A Practical Breviary, directed by Keenan Tyler Oliphant, in the lobby of the Pershing Square Signature Center. The show reimagines the sound and structure of a monastic morning mass with a community choir of 30-plus caregivers and makers and a blend of new music, neo-soul, and gospel with traditional medieval organum.
All the above productions except Fish will be staged in the Pershing Square Signature Center. Exact dates, casting, and additional creative team members have yet to be announced.
