Shakespeare in the Square presents its off-Broadway debut with its production of William Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, directed by Dan Hasse, which begins previews on 13 January 2015, before an official opening on 18 January, and will play a limited engagement through to 8 February 2015.

Known for its outdoor performances in Washington Square Park, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet marks the company's second indoor production and features cast members Elise Kibler, Constantine Malahias, Taylor Myers, Chris Dooly, and Jack De Sanz.

"Shakespeare in the Square is working closely with the text of the First Folio. Published in 1623, the First Folio is considered the only reliable source for about 20 of Shakespeare's plays and a valuable resource text, even for many of his previously published works. Shakespeare in the Square is committed to recreating the original Elizabethan staging practices, including direct interactions with some of the audience and a small company of five (mostly male) actors."

The creative team behind The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet features set and prop design by Phil Falino, costume design by Liz McGlone, lighting by Timothy Meola and musical direction by Chris Dubrow.
