Roundabout Underground announces On The Exhale

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced the second production of its 2016-2017 Underground series with the world premiere of On The Exhale, written by Martín Zimmerman and directed by Tony nominee Leigh Silverman, which begins previews at the Black Box Theatre at Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre on 7 February 2017, before an official opening on 28 February and a limited engagement through to 2 April 2017.

The solo play will star Tony nominee Marin Ireland.

Synopsis: "When a senseless act of violence changes her life forever, a liberal college professor finds herself inexplicably drawn to the very weapon used to perpetrate the crime—and to the irresistible feeling of power that comes from holding life and death in her hands. Peering down the barrel of a uniquely American crisis, she begins to suspect that when it comes to gun violence, we're all part of the problem."

The creative team will be announced at a later date.

The first production of the Roundabout Underground 2016-2017 series is the world premiere of Kingdom Come, written by Jenny Rachel Weiner and directed by Kip Fagan, which begins previews at the Black Box Theatre on 7 October 2016, before an official opening on 2 November and a limited engagement through to 18 December 2016.

Marin Ireland earned a Tony nomination in 2009 for her Broadway debut in 'Reasons To Be Pretty.' Other Broadway credits include 'After Miss Julie' and 'The Big Knife.' She has starred off-Broadway in 'Ironbound' and 'Kill Floor' and her screen credits include "Hell or High Water," "Glass Chin," and "Homeland."
