Playwright Horizon's announce the final 3 plays of their 2005-2006 season
Playwrights Horizons have announced the final three productions of its 35th Anniversary Season (2005-2006). The three works, each a world premiere, join three previously announced productions at the theater company's home at 416 West 42nd Street, will be:
Grey Gardens - world premiere - a new musical with book by Doug Wright, music by Scott Frankel and lyrics by Michael Korie.
At Playwrights Horizons Mainstage Theater
Performance dates to be announced.
The musical will be directed by Michael Greif and the cast will feature Christine Ebersole & Mary Louise Wilson, further casting will be announced soon.
Synpopsis: Once among the brightest names in the pre-Camelot social register, the deliciously eccentric aunt and cousin of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis are now East Hampton's most notorious recluses, living in a dilapidated 28-room mansion. Facing an uncertain future, Edith Bouvier Beale and her adult daughter, "Little" Edie, are forced to revisit their storied past and come to terms with it - for better, and for worse.
Pen - world premiere - a new play by David Marshall Grant.
At Playwright Horizon's Peter Jay Sharp Theater.

The play will be directed by Will Frears and the cast will feature J. Smith-Cameron, additional casting to be announced.
Synopsis: Confined to a wheelchair, a controlling mother (J. Smith-Cameron) holds tightly to her son by influencing his enrollment in a nearby college, while her ex-husband tries to spring the boy loose. Backed into a corner, the young man makes a choice that unleashes a series of mysterious events, forcing a broken family to confront its unresolved wounds. Pen is a sly, perceptive new play about finding love, losing control, and making the ultimate sacrifice.
Manic Flight Reaction - world premiere - a new comedy by Sarah Schulman.
At Playwright Horizon's Peter Jay Sharp Theater.

The comedy will be directed by Trip Cullman.
Synopsis: Struggling to settle - at the last minute - into normalcy, a middle-aged professor must confront the demons of her idealistic past when her daughter learns one of her mother's past liaisons is the wife of the leading presidential candidate.
These three new works join the three previously-announced productions:
Fran's Bed - the New York Premiere of a new play written and directed by James Lapine. The cast will feature Mia Farro. The show begins previews on the 2 Sep 2005 at the Playwrights Horizons Mainstage Theater.
Miss Witherspoon - the New York Premiere of a dark comedy by Christopher Durang and directed by Emily Mann. The show begins previews on the 11 Nov 2005 at the Playwrights Horizons Mainstage Theater
The Busy World Is Hushed - the world Premiere of a new play by Keith Bunin and directed by Mark Brokaw. The play's dates are to be announced. At the Playwrights Horizons Mainstage Theater
Additional casting for all six productions will be announced in the coming weeks.
