'Pipe Dream,' Nicole Blaine's one woman show, at the Flea Theatre

Following a successful run in Hollywood, 717 Productions presents Pipe Dreams, the one person show written and performed by Nicole Blaine and co-written and directed by Mickey Blaine, that proves that even pipe dreams do come true.

Pipe Dreams is part of the New York International Fringe Festival, and plays at the Flea Theatre from the 13 - 27 Aug 2005.

When Nicole Blaine was younger, she was the unlikely resident of a crack house, as well as a caretaker to her younger brother due to her mothers addiction. With very little to smile about, she often found solace in the powerhouse comedy line-up of NBC Thursdays. These were her only Friends and Jennifer Aniston was her BFF.

Flash forward years later and Blaine is a struggling Hollywood actress trying to make inroads when she happens upon Aniston in real life. In the tampon aisle at Rite-Aid Aniston tells her the best way to get noticed is to do a one-person show. Blaine agreed and decided to retell the hard truth of her childhood.

Pipe Dreams went on to tour drug and alcohol rehab centers in the Los Angeles area free of charge in hopes that its positive message and optimistic stance would enlighten the lives of those who truly needed it, or if nothing else, spread happiness through comic relief. That tour led to a 6-week sold out run at the Hudson Guild Theatre.

The publicity for the show says "Nicole Blaine says has discovered that you dont have to star in a sitcom in a coveted primetime slot to make a difference. By performing Pipe Dreams she helped those that needed it the most by letting them know that life can be painfully funny."

Nicole Blaines work as an actress has been recognized by the American College Theatre Festival Awards. Her producing credits include the original play 'Out of the Cubicle' and the feature film 'Qwickie All Night', written by Mickey Blaine and currently in development with Chanticleer Productions, with three-time Oscar winner Jana Memel attached as producer.
