Patti LuPone to perform Off-Broadway solo show 'Full Gallop' this winter

She will play fashion editor Diana Vreeland in Mark Hampton and Mary Louise Wilson's 1995 play, coming to New York City Center for a planned 12-week run.

Three-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone will return to the NYC stage in a revival of Full Gallop, playing off Broadway at New York City Center for 12 weeks only. Performances start January 8, and opening night is January 17.

Full Gallop is a 1995 solo show about 20th-century fashion and media figure Diana Vreeland, whose jobs included fashion editor of Harper’s Bazaar, editor-in-chief of Vogue, and consultant to the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The play takes place after her firing from Vogue, when she reflects on her life and career in her living room.

The play is written by Mark Hampton and Mary Louise Wilson, who originally played Vreeland at the Old Globe Theater in San Diego and then at the same City Center stage where LuPone will perform it. That production also transferred to the Westside Theatre following critical acclaim.

Gordon Greenberg (The Baker's Wife) will now direct LuPone in Full Gallop. Additional creative team members have yet to be announced.

One of Broadway's foremost icons, LuPone won Tonys for her performances in Evita, Gypsy and Company. She has performed in over 30 Broadway productions, the most recent being The Roommate opposite Mia Farrow in 2024.
