New comedy play 'Art of Leaving' to open off Broadway
Written by Anne Marilyn Lucas and directed by Matt Gehring, the show about three multigenerational couples will play at Pershing Square Signature Center this fall.
A new comedy play titled Art of Leaving will open off Broadway this fall, playing at the Pershing Square Signature Center from October 10 to December 14. Opening night is October 22.
Inspired by the real-life marriage of playwright Anne Marilyn Lucas, Art of Leaving follows three couples — one in their 20s, one in their 50s, and one in their 70s — figuring out their definition of what marriage should be. Ideas vary greatly between the generations, causing comic confusion as the couples navigate ideas like commitment, masculinity, open marriages, and identity.
The cast includes Audrey Heffernan Meyer as Diana, Jordan Lage as Aaron, Alan Ceppos as Felix, Pamela Shaw as Esther, Molly Chiffer as Caitlyn, and Brian Mason as Jason.
Matt Gehring directs. The full creative team will be announced at a later date.
Art of Leaving previously played a sold-out run at Theatre for the New City under the title Party? in 2024.
