The Manhattan Theatre Club has announced a one week extension for its current world premiere of Prodigal Son, written and directed by John Patrick Shanley, which began previews on 19 January 2016 and will officially open on 9 February at New York City Center's Stage I. The limited engagement will now close on 27 March 2016.

The cast of Prodigal Son includes Annika Boras (Louise Schmitt), Timothée Chalamet (Jim Rogan), Robert Sean Leonard (Alan Hoffman), Chris McGarry (Carl Schmitt) and David Potters (Austin).

Synopsis: "A 17-year-old boy from The Bronx finds himself suddenly in a private school in New Hampshire. He's violent, gifted, alienated, on fire with a ferocious loneliness. Two faculty members wrestle with the dilemma: Is the kid a star or a disaster? Prodigal Son is a passionate, explosive portrait of a young man on the verge of salvation or destruction."

The creative team features scenic design by Santo Loquasto, costume design by Ann Roth, lighting design by Natasha Katz and sound design by Fitz Patton.
