MCC Theater's New York premiere of Ride the Cyclone - only the third musical in the company's 30-year history - has extended its limited off-Broadway engagement. The production is scheduled to officially open tonight at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, following previews from 9 November, and will now run through to 29 December 2016 (instead of 18 December).

Ride the Cyclone features book, music & lyrics by Jacob Richmond & Brooke Maxwell, and is directed by Rachel Rockwell. Musical supervision is by Doug Peck, with musical direction by Remy Kurs.

Synopsis: "The Saint Cassian High School Chamber Choir will board the Cyclone roller coaster at 8:17pm. At 8:19 the front axle will break, sending them to their tragic demise. A mechanical fortune teller invites each to tell the story of a life interrupted - with the promise of a prize like no other. Ride the Cyclone is a wildly original new musical - part comedy, part tragedy, and wholly unexpected."

The full cast of Ride the Cyclone now includes (in alphabetical order) Lillian Castillo (Constance), Gus Halper (Misha), Karl Hamilton (Karnak), Emily Rohm (Jane Doe), Tiffany Tatreau (Ocean), Kholby Wardell (Noel) and Alex Wyse (Ricky).

The creative team behind Ride the Cyclone features scenic design by Scott Davis, costume design by Theresa Ham, lighting design by Greg Hofmann, sound design by Garth Helm, and projection design by Mike Tutaj.
