Matthew Broderick to star in Evening at the Talk House

Two-time Tony winner Matthew Broderick will star in The New Group's U.S. premiere of Evening at the Talk House, written by Wallace Shawn and directed by Scott Elliott, at the Pershing Square Signature Center's Romulus Linney Courtyard. Previews begin on 31 January 2017, before an official opening on 16 February and a limited engagement through to 12 March 2017.

Mr. Broderick joins the cast, which also includes playwright Wallace Shawn, alongside Jill Eikenberry, John Epperson, Larry Pine, Claudia Shear, Annapurna Sriram and Michael Tucker.

Synopsis: "Remember when you felt you could do anything, when there was still nothing to fear? Yes, things have changed a bit, haven't they? And everyone keeps saying there's nothing to be afraid of! Please join us to raise a toast on the 10th anniversary of the opening night of Robert's under-appreciated masterpiece, 'Midnight in a Clearing with Moon and Stars.' To recall that wonderful creative atmosphere, which we all miss so much, Nellie will host this celebration at our old haunt, the Talk House (which, despite everything, remains open). Please come. We need each other."

The creative team behind Evening at the Talk House features scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Jeff Mahshie, and lighting design by Jennifer Tipton.

Matthew Broderick last appeared on the New York stage in 'Shining City' at the Irish Repetory Theatre last Summer. He won Tony Awards for his performances in 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying' (1995) and 'Brighton Beach Memoirs' (1983) and earned a further Tony nomination for 'The Producers' (2001). Other Broadway credits include 'Sylvia,' 'It's Only a Play,' 'Nice Work If You Can Get It,' 'The Philanthropist,' 'The Odd Couple,' 'Taller Than a Dwarf,' 'Night Must Fall,' and 'Biloxi Blues.' Off-Broadway credits include 'The Starry Messenger,' 'The Foreigner,' 'The Pussycat and the Expert Plumber Who Was a Man,' 'The Widow Claire,' and 'Torch Song Trilogy.' He is also known for his screen career, which includes a Golden Globe nomination for "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" (1987) and an Emmy nomination for "Great Performances" (1994). Other notable screen credits include Disney's "The Lion King," "Godzilla," "Glory," "Manchester by the Sea," "Tower Heist," "The Stepford Wives," "Inspector Gadget," and the film adaptations of "Torch Song Trilogy," and "The Producers."
