King Lear extends to the 25 Mar 2007


The Public Theater's production of Shakespeare's King Lear, starring Kevin Kline, has extended its run by one week. The play will now run through to 25 Mar 2007 at the public's Anspacher Theater.

The play opened at the Anspacher Theater on 7 Mar 2007, following previews from 9 Feb and was originally scheduled to close on 18 Mar 2007.

King Lear, Monarch of Britain, decides to abdicate and divide his kingdom between his three daughters. When Cordelia refuses to make a public declaration of love for her father she is disinherited and married to the King of France without a dowry. The Earl of Kent is banished by Lear for daring to defend her. The two elder daughters, Goneril and Regan, and their husbands inherit the kingdom.

Directed by James Lapine, King Lear also features Brian Avers, Nicole Bocchi, Larry Bryggman, Kristen Bush, Michael Cerveris, Philip Goodwin, Piter Marek, Logan Marshall-Green, Talicia Martins, Ryan McCarthy, Laura Odeh, Daniel Pearce, Angela Pierce, Michael Rudko, Timothy D. Stickney, Joaquin Torres and Paris Rose Yates.

Set design is by Heidi Ettinger, with costumes by Jess Goldstein, lighting by David Lander and, sound by Dan Moses Schreier and Philip Peglow.
