'Kimberly Akimbo' to close on Broadway
David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori's musical adaptation of Lindsay-Abaire's play won five Tony Awards in 2023, including Best Musical and Best Actress.
It's had a great adventure. Kimberly Akimbo is set to close on Broadway, playing its final performance at the Booth Theatre on April 28.
The musical, written by David Lindsay-Abaire and Jeanine Tesori, is adapted from Lindsay-Abaire's same-named 2001 play about a teenager coming of age while physically aging four times faster than her peers.
The Kimberly Akimbo musical premiered off Broadway with Atlantic Theater Company in 2021 before moving to Broadway in October 2022. At the time of closing, the show will have played 644 total Broadway performances.
Kimberly Akimbo was the most awarded musical at the 2023 Tony Awards, winning five of its eight nominations: Best Musical, Best Actress in a Musical (for Victoria Clark), Best Featured Actress in a Musical (for Bonnie Milligan), Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score.

The Kimberly Akimbo cast includes Clark as as Kimberly, Milligan as Debra, Justin Cooley as Seth, Steven Boyer as Buddy, Alli Mauzey as Pattie, Olivia Elease Hardy as Delia, Fernell Hogan as Martin, Michael Iskander as Aaron, and Nina White as Teresa.
The entire cast has been with the production since its Off-Broadway premiere and will perform in the Broadway show through closing.
