Juliet at the Independent Theater

Theatre Y presents Juliet, by Andrs Visky, at the Independent Theater from 10 - 24 Aug 2007, as part of FringeNYC.

Juliet: A woman's enduring love is tested while imprisoned with her children with no chance of survival. Caught in a passionate love triangle between her husband and her god, she makes a final gamble for her life.

Based on the true story of playwright Andrs Viskys parents, Juliet is the story of a Hungarian woman imprisoned in a Romanian detention camp with her seven children while her husband is in a communist prison.

Although Juliet is performed by just one actress, it brings alive a multitude of stories, objects, places and situations, with even God stepping onto the scene as the main protagonist in Juliet's escape.

The show is directed by Christopher Markle and performed by Melissa Hawkins.
