John O'Hurley returns to Broadway's Chicago as Billy Flynn

The "Seinfeld" star begins performances as Billy Flynn at the Ambassador Theatre on July 23, 2018.

"Seinfeld" star John O'Hurley steps back into the role of Billy Flynn in Kander & Ebb's Tony Award-winning musical Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre tonight, marking his fifth Broadway engagement in the role. He has also played Mr. Flynn on the show's National Tour, as well as the role of King Arthur in the National Tour of Monty Python's Spamalot, and is best known for his TV role as J. Peterman in the hit series "Seinfeld". Former cast member Tom Hewitt played his final performance on July 22.

The principal Broadway cast of Chicago currently includes Michelle DeJean​ (as Roxie Hart), Terra C. MacLeod (as Velma Kelly), John O'Hurley (as Billy Flynn), Evan Harrington (as Amos Hart), Tony Award winner Cady Huffman (as Matron 'Mama' Morton), and R. Lowe (as Mary Sunshine). As previously reported, Israeli popstar and "X Factor" TV personality Shiri Maimon will officially make her Broadway debut, when she assumes the role of Roxie Hart from September 21 through to October 5, 2018.

Directed by Walter Bobbie, with choreography by Ann Reinking, Chicago features a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb, with a book by Bob Fosse & Fred Ebb.

The Broadway revival of Chicago began previews at the Ambassador Theatre on October 23, 1996, officially opening on November 14.

Synopsis: "Chicago follows not your usual housewife, Roxie Hart, who gains dubious notoriety when she kills her boyfriend, invents her defence and manipulates everyone from her trustworthy husband to the fickle media and the unsuspecting public." The show features such showtune classics as "All That Jazz", "Razzle Dazzle", and "Mr. Cellophane", among many others.

The creative team features scenic design by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting design by Ken Billington and sound design by Scott Lehrer.

Chicago is the winner of six 1997 Tony Awards including "Best Musical Revival," and the winner of the Grammy Award for "Best Musical Cast Recording."

Chicago Tickets are available now for performances through to March 31, 2019.
