Complete casting has been set for Dog Day Afternoon on Broadway, a new stage adaptation of the 1975 movie starting performances at the August Wilson Theatre on March 10. Opening night is March 30.

The show is led by Jon Bernthal as Sonny Amato and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Sal DeSilva, both Emmy winners for The Bear now making their Broadway debuts. The complete cast also includes Drama Desk Award nominee John Ortiz (Jesus Hopped the A Train) as Detective Ferrara, three-time Tony Award nominee Jessica Hecht (Eureka Day) as Colleen, SAG Award nominee Spencer Garrett (Once Upon A Time in Hollywood) as Sheldon, Michael Kostroff as Butterman, Elizabeth Canavan as Roxxanna/Sonny’s Mom/Gloria, Drama Desk nominee Esteban Andres Cruz as Leon, Danny Johnson as Mr. Eddy, Drama Desk nominee Paola Lázaro as Guadalupe, Wilemina Olivia-Garcia as Lorna, Christopher Sears as Ray Ray, Michael Shayan as Mr. Nesbit, Jeff Still as Widower Dave, Andrea Syglowski as Alison, and Brian D. Coats, Alex J. Gould, Dom Martello, Michael Puzzo, and Carmen Zilles as ensemble members.

Based on true events, Dog Day Afternoon follows two would-be Brooklyn bank robbers whose attempt goes spectacularly wrong and escalates into chaos that grips the city. Rupert Goold directs the play by Stephen Adly Guirgis, adapting the story previously told in a 1972 article by P. F. Kluge and the 1975 film's Oscar-winning screenplay by Frank Pierson.

Dog Day Afternoon also features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Brenda Abbandandolo, lighting design by Isabella Byrd, sound design by Cody Spencer, hair design by Leah J. Loukas, and dialect coaching by Kate Wilson.
