The current New York Theatre Workshop and WP Theater co-production of Hurricane Diane, which began previews at New York Theatre Workshop on February 6, 2019 and official opened on February 24, has extended by two weeks. The limited engagement will now close on March 24, 2019 (instead of March 10).

Hurricane Diane is written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Madeleine George and directed by Tony Award nominee Leigh Silverman.

Synopsis: "Meet Diane, a permaculture gardener dripping with butch charm. She's got supernatural abilities owing to her true identity—the Greek god Dionysus—and she's returned to the modern world to gather mortal followers and restore the Earth to its natural state. Where better to begin than with four housewives in a suburban New Jersey cul-de-sac? Hurricane Diane is a hilarious evisceration of the blind eye we all turn to climate change and the bacchanalian catharsis that awaits us, even in our own backyards."

The cast includes (in alphabetical order) Mia Barron (as Carol Fleischer), Michelle Beck (Renee Shapiro-Epps), Becca Blackwell (as Diane), Danielle Skraastad (as Pam Annunziata), and Kate Wetherhead (as Beth Wann).

The creative team behind Hurricane Diane features original music by The Bengsons, choreography by Raja Feather Kelly, scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Kaye Voyce, lighting design by Barbara Samuels, and sound design by Bray Poor.

A second co-production (to be staged at WP Theater) will be announced in due course.
