How I Learned to Drive: 1 wk extension cancelled

Second Stage Theatre's production of Paula Vogel's How I Learned to Drive, at the Second Stage Theatre, has cancelled its recently announced one week extension, and will close on 11 Mar 2012 as originally scheduled.

How I Learned to Drive opened at the Second Stage Theatre on 13 Feb 2012, following previews from 24 Jan 2012.

The show opened to mixed reviews: Dullness... (newyorktheatreguide); First-rate revival (NY Times); Never slips satisfyingly into gear" (Back Stage); Vivid, compelling and sometimes funny (Record).

The cast stars two time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz (Catch Me If You Can, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels ) and Emmy Award nominee Elizabeth Reaser (Twilight, Grey's Anatomy) along with Kevin Cahoon (The Wedding Singer, The Foreigner), Jennifer Regan (Born Yesterday) and Marnie Schulenburg (24-hour Musical).

The drama explores the complex relationship between Li'l Bit (Elizabeth Reaser) and her Uncle Peck (Norbert Leo Butz), as a series of driving lessons progresses from innocence to something much darker.

How I Learned to Drive is being revived in New York City for the first time since its world premiere production by the Vineyard Theatre at the Century Center For The Performing Arts where it ran from 6 May 1997 through to 19 Apr 1998.

The premiere production was directed by Mark Brokaw and starred Mary-Louise Parker as 'Li'l Bit' and David Morse as 'Uncle Peck.' The production won the 1998 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, as well as the New York Drama Critics Circle, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Obie Awards for Best Play.
