Dead Accounts to close on 6 Jan 2013

The Broadway premiere of Theresa Rebeck's new comedy Dead Accounts has posted early closing notices and will play its final performance on 6 Jan 2013. The limited engagement was originally scheduled to close on 24 Feb 2013. When the show closes it will have played 27 previews and 44 regular performances.

The show opened to mixed, but mostly poor reviews: A flimsy smorgasbord (newyorktheatreguide); Stupefyingly unfocused (NYDN); Lazy and predictable (Back Stage); Entertaining ... in every respect (Newsroom Jersey).

Producer Jeffrey Finn said, "I am extremely proud of this production and the cast. Theresa Rebeck and Jack O'Brien have created an inspiring and hilarious new play and we are all sad to see Dead Accounts end on Broadway. I look forward to working with this remarkably talented cast and creative team again very soon."

Dead Accounts opened at the Music Box Theatre on 29 Nov 2012, following previews from 5 Nov 2012.

Starring two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz and Katie Holmes, Dead Accounts, directed by three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien, also stars, Judy Greer, Josh Hamilton, and two-time Tony Award nominee Jayne Houdyshell.

In Dead Accounts, Jack's (Norbert Leo Butz) unexpected return throws his family into a frenzy, and his sister Lorna (Katie Holmes) needs answers. Is he coming home or running away? Where is his wife (Judy Greer) everyone hates? And how did he get all that money? Theresa Rebeck's new comedy tackles the timely issues of corporate greed, small town values, and whether or not your family will always welcome you back...with no questions asked.

The creative team for the production features David Rockwell (scenic design), Catherine Zuber (costume design), David Weiner (lighting design), and Mark Bennett (sound design, original music).

Dead Accounts is produced by Jeffrey Finn, John N. Hart Jr., David Mirvish, Amy Nauiokas, Ergo Entertainment, Harriet Newman Leve, Double Gemini Productions, 3toGo Entertainment, and The Shubert Organization.
