CSC announces cast for Rodgers & Hammerstein's Allegro

The Classic Stage Company has now announced full casting for the first production of its upcoming 2014-2015 season, a revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's musical Allegro, which will begin previews on 1 November 2014, before officially opening on 19 Novemeber and continuing its limited engagement to 7 December 2014.

The cast of Allegro includes George Abud (Charlie Townsend), Alma Cuervo (Grandma Taylor), Elizabeth A. Davis (Jenny Brinker), Claybourne Elder (Joseph Taylor Jr.), Malcolm Gets (Joe Taylor Sr.), Maggie Lakis (Hazel), Megan Loomis (Beulah), Paul Lincoln (Brook Lansdale), Jane Pfitsch (Emily), Randy Redd (Dr. Bigby Denby), Ed Romanoff (Ned Brinker) and Jessica Tyler Wright (Marjorie Taylor).

"Follow the story of Joe Taylor, Jr. from cradle to early manhood in this exploration of America's coming of age, as seen through the eyes of a young physician learning about the mysteries of life and death. Considered one of Richard Rodgers' and Oscar Hammerstein II's most personal and groundbreaking works, Allegro was their third collaboration and first premiered on Broadway in 1947."

The creative team features direction and scenic design by John Doyle, costumes by Tony Award winner Ann Hould-Ward, lighting by Jane Cox and sound design by Dan Moses Schreier.
