Complete cast announced for Playwrights Horizons' Mankind
Anson Mount, André De Shields and more will star off-Broadway in Robert O'Hara's world premiere production.
Playwrights Horizons has now revealed complete casting for its forthcoming world premiere of Mankind, a new comedy written and directed by two-time Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara.
The cast includes two-time Tony Award nominee and Emmy Award winner André De Shields (as Jason's Father and others), Bobby Moreno (as Jason), "Hell on Wheels" star Anson Mount (pictured, as Mark), Stephen Schnetzer (as Mark's Father and others), Ariel Shafir (as Detective and others), and David Ryan Smith (as OBGYN and others).
Mankind will be staged at the company's Mainstage Theater on 42nd Street, playing a limited engagement from December 15, 2017 through to January 28, 2018. An official opening night is set for January 8.
Synopsis: "Mark and Jason were keeping things casual until Jason got pregnant. But however unplanned the pregnancy was, nothing could be less expected than the chain of events it would set in motion. Robert O'Hara's audacious, hilarious allegory envisions an uncannily familiar future - one long after women have gone extinct from centuries of mistreatment - where man's capacity to f**k everything up soars to new heights."
The creative team behind Mankind features scenic design by Tony Award winner Clint Ramos, costume design by Dede M. Ayite, lighting design by Alex Jainchill, sound design by Lindsay Jones, video design by Jeff Sugg, and hair, wig & makeup design by J. Jared Janas and Dave Bova.
