Come Fly With Me: Twyla Tharp dance-ical hints at a Broadway bow

Variety reports that the producers of Twyla Tharp's Come Fly With Me, a Frank Sinatra-themed dancical are considering a Broadway bow, following a National Tour to be launced in the summer of 2009.

The show will have its world premiere at the Atlanta's Alliance Theater, where it will play from 15 Sep - 11 Dec 2009.

Atlanta's Alliance Theater's website describes the show as, "a new musical that follows four couples falling in and out of love. The show shares the full spectrum of emotion we all know as 'this thing called love.' Set in a crowded night-club the dance driven evening is sexy athletic passionate and filled with optimism.

By special arrangement with Frank Sinatra Enterprises and The Sinatra Family, Come Fly With Me features original recorded masters of Frank Sinatras voice backed by the live on stage big band. The music combines newly discovered renditions of Sinatras voice, with signature arrangements (Count Basie, Nelsen Riddle, Quincy Jones et al) as well as brand new charts for this fresh innovative musical."

Exec producer Nicholas Howey told Variety "With this brand, you wouldn't ignore New York."

Tharp won two Tony Awards (Best Direction and Best Choreography) for her Billy Joel-themed danciical 'Movin' Out,' which ran on Broadway from Sep 2002 - Dec 2005 playing a total of 1331 performances. Her last show to bow on Broadway, the Bob Dylan themed musical, 'The Times They Are A-Changin'' ran for only 63 performances - 35 of which were previews.

Come Fly With Me is produced by His Way Entertainment in association with WAT Limited and Troika Marketing.
