The Vineyard Theatre has now announced casting for the first production of its upcoming 2019-2020 Off-Broadway season. The previously announced production of Is This a Room, conceived and directed by Tina Satter, will star Emily C. Davis (as Reality Winner), Becca Blackwell (as Unknown Male), Pete Simpson (as Agent Garrick), and TL Thompson (as Agent Taylor).

Is This a Room is scheduled to begin previews on October 3, 2019, ahead of an official opening on October 27 and a limited engagement through November 10, 2019.

Synopsis: "A true story, still unfolding. June 3, 2017. A 25-year-old former Air Force linguist named Reality Winner is surprised at her home by the FBI, interrogated, and then charged with leaking evidence of Russian interference in U.S elections. Reality remains in jail with a record-breaking sentence. The FBI transcript of her interrogation is the heart of Is This a Room, in which an extraordinary human drama unfolds between the complex and witty Reality, and the agents who question her. As Reality's autonomy shrinks before her eyes, a simmering real-life thriller emerges, asking what it is to have honor in this American moment, and how the personal can reverberate globally."

The creative team features scenic design by Parker Lutz, costume design by Enver Chakartash, lighting design by Thomas Dunn, original music & sound design by Sanae Yamada, and puppetry design by Amanda Villalobos.

Is This A Room was originally staged as a limited engagement at The Kitchen in New York City in January 2019.

Vineyard's 2019-2020 season also includes the New York premiere of Lucas Hnath's Dana H., starring Deirde O'Connell, in the winter and Antoinette Nwandu's Tuvalu or, The Saddest Song next spring.
