Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson: more returning cast

James Barry, Greg Hildreth, Jeff Hiller, Lucas Near-verbrugghe, Ben Steinfeld, Maria Elena Ramirez, Kate Cullen Roberts and Emily Young, all of whom appeared in the Off-Broadway production of Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson this past spring at The Public's Newman Theater, will join the previously announced Benjamin Walker (Andrew Jackson) in reprising their roles for Broadway.

Additional casting will be announced shortly.

The Broadway premiere of the rock musical Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson opens at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on 13 Oct 2010, following previews from 20 Sep 2010.

Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson: A sharp, irreverent look at America's seventh president, Andrew Jackson—the man who invented the Democratic Party, doubled the size of our nation and signed the Indian Removal Acts that started the Trail of Tears — to investigate the attraction and terrors of American populism.

A co-production with Center Theatre Group and in association with Les Freres Corbusier, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson is written and directed by Alex Timbers and features music and lyrics by Michael Friedman. Friedman's score was honored with an L.A. Critics' Award for the musical's world premiere at Center Theatre Group.

The musical opens on Broadway following a sold-out run at Public LAB in 2009, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson returned to The Public for a full main stage production and opened to acclaimed reviews on 6 Apr 2010. It received an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical and a Drama Desk Award for Best Book of a Musical. When the show closed on 27 Jun 2010, after three extensions, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson was the second highest grossing show in The Public Theater's downtown history.

The Public's Off-Broadway production opened to excellent reviews: A fresh and brilliant creation (newyorktheatreguide.com); Rowdy, dopey and devastatingly shrewd (NY Times); Raucous, engaging musical (Bloomberg).
