Atlantic confirms cast and extension for She Persisted, The Musical
She Persisted, The Musical begins performances at the Linda Gross Theater on February 22, 2020.
Atlantic Theater Company has now confirmed casting and announced a 1-week extension for the upcoming Atlantic For Kids production of She Persisted, The Musical.
The family-friendly New York premiere, which is recommended for children aged 5 and above but welcomes kids of all ages, is now scheduled to run at the Linda Gross Theater from February 22 through March 22, 2020 (instead of March 15).
She Persisted, The Musical features a script & lyrics by Adam Tobin with music by Deborah Wicks La Puma, adapted from the book written by Chelsea Clinton, illustrated by Alexandra Boiger, and published by Philomel Books.
Synopsis: "In this trailblazing new musical for young audiences based on Chelsea Clinton's best-selling book, fourth-grader Naomi's field trip to a Women's History Museum turns into a time travel adventure where she encounters inspirational women overcoming barriers and making waves. She Persisted, The Musical is a rallying cry for all of those tiny feminists, mini activists and little ones ready to take on the world, one dream at a time!"
Leading the cast is Amber Jaunai (as Naomi), alongside Auberth Bercy (as Ruby Bridges/Bailey), Jianzi Colón-Soto (as Sonia Sotomayor/Juno), Amanda Corday (as Dr. Virginia Apgar/Sally Ride), Cynthia Nesbit (as Harriet Tubman/Florence Griffith-Joyner), and Heather Sawyer (as Ms. Chan/Time).
Under the direction of MK Lawson (who also serves as choreographer), the creative team features music supervision by Macy Schmidt, scenic design by Jungah Han, costume design by Rose Bisogno, lighting design by Carolina Ortiz Herrera, sound design by Five Ohm Productions, and prop design by Deb Gaouette.
