It’s going to be one singular sensation! A one-night-only reunion concert for the award-winning musical A Chorus Line will take place on July 27 at the Shubert Theatre, nearly 50 years to the day since the musical opened on Broadway on July 27, 1975, at the same venue.

Original Broadway cast member Baayork Lee, who also oversaw choreography for the 2006 revival, will direct and choreograph the concert. The star-studded lineup will include original cast members Kelly Bishop, Wayne Cilento, Baayork Lee, Priscilla Lopez and Donna McKechnie, plus additional celebrities including Charlotte d'Amboise (Chicago), Jessica Lee Goldyn (Moulin Rouge! The Musical), Robyn Hurder (SMASH), Francis Jue (Yellowface), Krysta Rodriguez (SMASH), Jessica Vosk (Hell's Kitchen), Anthony Wayne (Tina: The Tina Turner Musical), Tony Yazbeck (Flying Over Sunset), and Leigh Zimmerman. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Conceived by Michael Bennett and featuring music by Marvin Hamlisch, lyrics by Edward Kleban, and a book by James Kirkwood Jr. and Nicholas Dante, A Chorus Line spotlights 17 dancers auditioning for a show. Inspired by stories from real performers, the musical illuminates their inspirations, ambitions, and struggles in their lives and careers.

A Chorus Line made its world premiere at The Public Theater off Broadway in April 1975 and transferred to the Shubert later that year. It won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Running from 1975 to 1990, the original production remains the seventh-longest-running Broadway show of all time.

Joe Benincasa, President and CEO of the Entertainment Community Fund, said: “We are thrilled to celebrate 50 years of A Chorus Line on Broadway with this one-night-only spectacular, supporting our programs and services dedicated to the dance community. We’re so grateful to everyone for making this special night possible, and we can’t wait to honor this milestone at the Shubert Theatre.

“It has been an honor to spend the last 50 years of my life bringing A Chorus Line around the world. It warms my heart to celebrate this milestone at our original home of 15 years, the Shubert Theatre. I know Michael (Bennett) and Bob (Avian) are smiling down knowing their legacy continues on. Here’s to another 50 years.”
