10 Million Miles at Atlantic Theater


Atlantic Theater Company's world premiere presentation of 10 Million Miles, a new musical with book by Keith Bunin and, music and lyrics by Patty Griffin, opening at Atlantic's Main Stage on 14 Jun 2007, following previews from 11 May and running through to 1 Jul 2007.

10 Million Miles, directed by Michael Mayer, follows the story of Duane and Molly's road trip in a beat-up Chevy pick-up truck from the southern tip of Florida to the northwest corner of New York, with plenty of unexpected detours along the way.

The musical will star Matthew Morrison, Irene Molloy, Skipp Sudduth and Mare Winningham.

Matthew Morrison (Duane) was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance as Fabrizio Naccarelli in the musical 'The Light in the Piazza' (2005), his other Broadway credits include 'A Naked Girl on the Appian Way' (2005), Hairspray' (2002), 'The Rocky Horror Show' (2000 revival) and 'Footloose' (1998).

Irene Molloy (Molly) made her Broadway debut in 'The Civil War' (1999), she played the lead role in the Washington D.C. world premiere of Andrew Lloy Webber's' Whiste Down the Wind'.

Skipp Sudduth (Man) returns to Atlantic where he last appeared in the world premiere of Woody Allen�s Writer�s Block (2003). He is best known for his role as Officer John 'Sully' Sullivan in all six seasons of NBC�s television series 'Third Watch.' Broadway appearances include The Iceman Cometh, Twelfth Night at Lincoln Center, and Steppenwolf Theater's production of 'The Grapes of Wrath' (1990).

Mare Winningham (Woman) was nominated for Academy Award for the film Georgia and Emmy Awards for the television movies George Wallace and Amber Waves. Theatre credits include starring alongside Sean Penn and Danny Aiello in the Los Angeles production of Hurlyburly, directed by David Rabe; Side Man at the Pasadena Playhouse; Lessons, directed by Adam Robinson; and The Genius at The Mark Taper Forum.

Michael Mayer (Director) is currently represented on Broadway by the musical Spring Awakening which began life at the Atlantic Theatre before transferring to Broadway in Nov 2006 to rave reviews, and which many expect to do well at the Tony's this year. He has been nominated three times for Tony's for his work on Broadway: 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' (2002), 'You're a Good Man', Charlie Brown (1999) and A View From the Bridge (1997).

Keith Bunin (book) is the author of the plays The Busy World is Hushed, The World Over, and The Credeaux Canvas, which were all originally produced Off-Broadway by Playwrights Horizons.

Patty Griffin, a two-time Grammy nominee, has written songs for The Dixie Chicks, Bette Midler, and Reba McEntire among other artists.

The creative team for 10 Million Miles features scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Michael Krass, lighting design by Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer and sound design by Brian Ronan.
