Hadden-Paton was born on 10 April 1981 in London, England. He is a Tony- and Grammy-nominated actor, best known for his TV roles as Bertie Pelham on the hit British TV series Downton Abbey and as Martin Charteris on Netflix's hit series The Crown.

Hadden-Paton attended Eton College and Durham University before being accepted at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After his graduation in 2006, he quickly established himself as a regular on both the West End and Off-West End theatre scenes. Some of his most notable London stage credits include the roles of John Worthing in The Importance of Being Earnest at the Vaudeville Theatre in 2008, Harry Villiers in Posh at the Royal Court Theatre in 2010, Count Hohenzollern in The Prince of Homburg at the Donmar Warehouse in 2010, Teddy Graham in Flare Path at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2011, Michael Palin in No Naughty Bits at the Hampstead Theatre in 2011, Marlow in She Stoops to Conquer at the National Theatre in 2012, Alsemero in The Changeling at the Young Vic in 2012, and Philip in The Pride at Trafalgar Studios in 2013.

On March 15, 2018, he made his New York stage debut in the role of Henry Higgins in Lerner and Loewe's classic musical My Fair Lady at Lincoln Center Theater, receiving a Theatre World Award, Drama Desk nomination, Grammy Award nomination for Best Musical Theater Album, and his first Tony Award nomination in the category of Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. He remained with the production through July 6, 2019. Harry Hadden-Paton starred as Aldous Huxley in Flying Over Sunset at the Vivian Beaumont Theater.

Hadden-Paton made his feature film debut as Doug Davis in La Vie en Rose in 2007, which led to parts in In the Loop (2009), The Deep Blue Sea (2011), Having You (2011), and the role of Rupert in Richard Curtis's About Time in 2013. He became an international star in 2014 after being cast as Bertie Pelham, 7th Marquess of Hexham, in the Golden Globe- and Emmy Award-winning series Downton Abbey, which he later reprised in the show's 2019 film adaptation. Since Downton Abbey, Hadden-Paton has starred as Hans von Enke in Wallander (2015), as Gaston in Versailles (2017), as Dr. Granger in "The Little Stranger" (2018), and, perhaps most notably, as Martin Charteris in Netflix's Golden Globe-winning series The Crown from 2016 to 2017.
