Tickets are now on sale for MJ The Musical at the Neil Simon Theatre on Broadway.
Michael Jackson fans rejoice! The world premiere of MJ The Musical (previously entitled Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough) officially debuts on Broadway in summer 2020. Previews are scheduled to begin at the Neil Simon Theatre on July 6, 2020, ahead of an official opening on August 13.
Under the direction of Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon (who also serves as choreographer for the production), the new bio-musical features a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, alongside Michael Jackson's greatest hits.
Ms. Nottage’s earned her first Tony Award nomination in 2017 for her Broadway debut penning Sweat. She made history as a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, being honored in 2009 for Ruined and in 2017 for Sweat, and has also been produced regularly Off-Broadway, including productions of Intimate Apparel, Mlima’s Tale, and By the Way, Meet Vera Stark. Mr. Wheeldon is perhaps best known to New York audiences for directing and choreographing the 2015 Broadway premiere of An American in Paris.
Starring as Michael Jackson in this world premiere of MJ The Musical is Grammy and Tony Award nominee and triple-threat sensation Ephraim Sykes, who has previously wowed Broadway audiences with his performance as David Ruffin in Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations and stole the show as Seaweed J. Stubbs in NBC's "Hairspray Live!" in 2016. His interpretation of The King of Pop in MJ The Musical may prove to be a career-defining role for this talented shooting star.
With over 350 million records worldwide, Michael Jackson was an artist unlike any other and MJ The Musical has a plethora of cherished hits to showcase, including "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough," "Rock with You," "Billie Jean," "Beat It," "Thriller," "Bad," "Man in the Mirror," "Smooth Criminal," "Black or White," and "Heal the World," to name just a few.
