The new musical Waitress, which features a book by Jessie Nelson and music & lyrics by five-time Grammy Award-nominee Sara Bareilles, is officially headed to the Great White Way. Previews will begin at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in March 2016, before an official opening in April 2016.

The production, directed by Tony winner Diane Paulus, is currently playing to audiences at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts until 27 September 2015.

Synopsis: "Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker, is stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage. When a baking contest in a nearby county offers her a chance at escape, Jenna must weigh her commitments against a rare shot at freedom and recognition. Her customers, co-workers, and the town's handsome new doctor all offer her conflicting recipes for happiness - but Jenna must ultimately decide for herself. The musical is based on the 2007 motion picture written by Adrienne Shelly."

Waitress is produced on Broadway by Barry & Fran Weissler and Norton & Elayne Herrick.

Although no official casting has been announced, the A.R.T. cast includes Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller, as well as Jeanna de Waal, Keala Settle, Joe Tippett, Eric Anderson, and Drew Gehling.
