'Steel Magnolias' to play at the Lyceum Theatre

Sat 11 Dec 2004 'Steel Magnolias' to play at the Lyceum Theatre The Lyceum Theatre will be the home of the Broadway premiere of Steel Magnolias, the Off-Broadway play and popular film by Robert Harling, now set to begin performances on 15 Mar 2005. Directed by Jason Moore, Steel Magnolias will open Mon 4 Apr 2005. Steel Magnolias stars the previously announced Delta Burke as Truvy and Christine Ebersole as MLynn, with scores of actresses still auditioning to play the other four strong southern women who inhabit Truvy's beauty parlor. An Off-Broadway hit in 1987, Steel Magnolias played 1,126 performances at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, following a short run at the WPA Theatre. Selected as one of The Best Plays of 1987-1988 by the theater yearbook, Steel Magnolias has since been performed in hundreds of productions around the world. Steel Magnolias will be produced on Broadway by Roy Gabay and Robyn Goodman.
