Second Stage Theater announce extension for Superhero

2ST's world premiere musical will now play through to March 31, 2019 at the Tony Kiser Theater.

Second Stage Theater have announced a one-week extension for the world premiere of Superhero at off-Broadway's Tony Kiser Theater. The musical began previews on January 31 and an official opening night is set for February 28. With the newly-announced extension, the show will now run through to March 31, 2019.

Synopsis: "Before we can save the world, we have to save each other. Superhero  is a deeply human new musical about a fractured family, the mysterious stranger in apartment 4-B, and the unexpected hero who just might save the day."

The cast of Superhero features Kate Baldwin, who has received Tony Award nominations for her performance as Irene Molloy in the 2017 revival of Hello, Dolly! and for playing Sharon McLonergan in the 2009 revival of Finian's Rainbow.

Baldwin is joined by Bryce Pinkham, who was nominated for "Best Actor in a Musical" at the 2014 Tony Awards for his performance as Monty Navaro in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder. More recently, he has starred in Holiday Inn and The Heidi Chronicles.

The cast is completed by Julia Abueva, Jake Levy, Kyle McArthur, Salena Qureshi, Thom Sesma and Nataniel Stampley.

The creative team features a book by John Logan, winning a Tony Award for his play Red in 2010. Music, lyrics and orchestrations are by Tom Kitt, Jason Moore directs and Lorin Latarro provides musical staging. Beowulf Boritt provides scenic design, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Jen Schriever and sound design by Brian Ronan.

Superhero Tickets are available now for performances through to March 31, 2019.
