Cirque du Soleil Theatrical, under the leadership of Scott Zeiger, has announced that Ruby Lewis will make her Broadway debut and star in the company's first ever production specifically created for Broadway: Paramour.

Mr Zeiger released the following statement:

"Ruby is the kind of young actress, theatre producers dream of discovering. Her powerhouse voice, electrifying dancing, and masterful acting are going to leave Paramour audiences in awe. She's a star in the making and I'm thrilled to have her make her Broadway debut in our show."
Ruby Lewis has previously appeared in the touring productions of 'Gypsy,' 'Grease,' 'Jersey Boys,' and 'We Will Rock You.' She also portrayed the character of Daisy (from "The Great Gatsby") in 'For The Record: BAZ' - a post-modern cabaret inspired by the films of director Baz Luhrmann.

Additional casting for the 38 actors, dancers, aerialists, acrobats, and circus arts performers who will comprise the Broadway company of Paramour will be announced at a later date.

Mr Zeiger has also announced a new date for the show's official opening. Directed by Philippe Decouflé, Paramour will now officially open at Broadway's Lyric Theatre on 25 May 2016 (instead of 2 June), following previews from 16 April, and is initially booking through to 20 November 2016.

Synopsis: "Set in the glamorous world of Golden Age Hollywood, this musical spins the tale of a beautiful young poet forced to choose between love and art. Featuring a cast that blends circus arts and musical theatre, Paramour will transport you to a world of sublime beauty and emotion as it walks the exhilarating tightrope of the heart."

The creative team behind Paramour features scenic design by Jean Rabasse, costume design by Philippe Guillotel, original music by Bob & Bill, choreography by Daphné Mauger, lighting design by Patrice Besombes, props design by Anne‐Séguin Poirier, projection design by Olivier Simola & Christophe Waksmann, sound design by John Shivers, acrobatic choreography by Shana Carroll, acrobatic performance design by Boris Verkhovsky, rigging and acrobatic equipment design by Pierre Masse, and make-up design by Nathalie Gagné.

In addition, Jean-François Bouchard will serve as 'Creative Guide,' with Pascale Henrot as associate creative director and West Hyler as associate creative director and scene director for the production.

As previously reported, Cirque du Soleil Theatrical will also produce a revival of The Wiz, which is scheduled to begin performances on Broadway during the 2016-2017 season.
