Outer Critics Circle: 2012 Award winners

The winners of the Outer Critics Circle, the organization of writers and commentators covering New York theater for out-of-town newspapers, were announced on 14 May 2012.

The award for Outstanding New Broadway Musical was won by 'Once' and the award for Outstanding New Broadway Play went to Richard Bean's 'One Man, Two Guvnors.' These two shows were the most decorated winners this year, with each winning three awards.

The award for Revival of a Musical (Broadway or Off-Broadway) went to 'Follies' which also won in one other category, and the award for Best Revival of a Play (Broadway or Off-Broadway) was won by Arthur Miller's 'Death of a Salesman,' starring Philip Seymour Hoffman.

The Roundabout's production of Stephen Karam's 'Sons of the Prophet' was announced winner of the Outstanding New Off-Broadway Play Award, with Transport Group's production of 'Queen of the Mist' winning the award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical.

The biggest disappointment of the Awards was for the musical 'Evita,' which though it received five nominations, won no awards.
