Official Broadway production photos released for Tina: The Tina Turner Musical

The Broadway premiere of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical is set for an official opening at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on November 7, 2019.

Ahead of tomorrow's official opening at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, producers have now released official production photography for the Broadway premiere of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical. Check out the new shots of Tony and Olivier Award nominee Adrienne Warren as the Lioness of Rock, Tina Turner, on the Great White Way!

Written by Katori Hall (with Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins), who previously made her Broadway debut with The Mountaintop in 2011, and directed by Tony Award nominee Phyllida Lloyd, whose previous Broadway credits include Mamma Mia! and 2009's Mary StuartTina features some of Tina Turner's iconic back catelogue of hits such as "Nutbush City Limits," "River Deep - Mountain High," "Proud Mary," "Private Dancer," "What's Love Got to Do with It?," "Simply The Best," and many more.

Synopsis: "From humble beginnings in Nutbush, Tennessee, to her transformation into the global Queen of Rock 'n' Roll, Tina Turner didn't just break the rules, she rewrote them. This new stage musical, presented in association with Tina Turner herself, reveals the untold story of a woman who dared to defy the bounds of her age, gender and race."

Alongside Ms. Warren, the Broadway cast also includes Daniel J. Watts (as Ike Turner), Dawnn Lewis (as Zelma), Myra Lucretia Taylor (as Gran Georgeanna), Steven Booth (as Phil Spector/Terry Britten), Gerald Caesar (as Raymond), Charlie Franklin (as Roger Davies), Matthew Griffin (as Craig), David Jennings (as Richard Bullock), Ross Lekites (as Erwin Bach), Robert Lenzi (as Carpenter), Gloria Manning (as Young Alline), Jhardon Dishon Milton (as Ronnie), Mars Rucker (as Alline), Jessica Rush (as Rhonda), Jayden Theophile and Antonio J. Watson (alternating as Young Craig), and Skye Dakota Turner (as Young Anna-Mae). Nkeki Obi-Melekwe serves as alternate Tina Turner, covering the role on Wednesday and Saturday matinee performances.

Tina Turner previously commented: "I'm so proud of everything that Adrienne has achieved over the last year in the West End. She has given it everything she's got, she has poured her soul into it, and she deserves every success. I am thrilled she will be reprising her role in New York, and I cannot wait to see her on that Broadway stage on Opening Night".

Adrienne Warren starred as Lorrell Robinson in the 2009 National Tour of Dreamgirls, before taking on the role of Danielle in the 2011 National Tour of Bring It On The Musical, reprising the role (and making her Broadway debut) in the Broadway premiere in 2012. Her big break came after being cast in Shuffle Along, Or The Making of the Musical Sensation of 1921 and All That Followed and earning a Tony Award nomination for her performance in 2016. She received a 2019 Olivier Award nomination for her performance in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical in London.

The production features musical supervision, additional music and arrangements by Nicholas Skilbeck, orchestrations by Ethan Popp, choreography by Anthony van Laast, scenic & costume design by Mark Thompson, lighting design by Bruno Poet, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and projection design by Jeff Sugg.

Tina: The Tina Turner Musical is produced on Broadway by Stage Entertainment with Nederlander Presentations, Inc., in association with Tina Turner.
