The Manhattan Theatre Club has announced a new addition to its 2015-2016 season: The New York Premiere of Our Mother's Brief Affair, written by Richard Greenberg and directed by Lynne Meadow. Previews begin on 28 December 2015 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, before an official opening on 20 January 2016.

Returning to Broadway and starring in the lead role of Anna will be Tony and two-time Golden Globe winner Linda Lavin.

Synopsis: "On the verge of death for the umpteenth time, Anna (Linda Lavin) makes a shocking confession to her grown children: an affair from her past that just might have resonance beyond the family. But how much of what she says is true? While her children try to separate fact from fiction, Anna fights for a legacy she can be proud of. Our Mother's Brief Affair considers the sweeping, surprising impact of indiscretions both large and small."

Further casting and creative team information will be announced at a later date.

Linda Lavin won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for 'Broadway Bound' in 1987. She also received five further Tony nominations (for 'The Lyons' in 2012, for 'Collected Stories' in 2010, for 'The Tale of the Allergist's Wife' in 2001, for 'The Diary of Anne Frank' in 1998, and for 'Last of the Red Hot Lovers' in 1970). Her additional Broadway credits include 'Hollywood Arms,' 'The Sisters Rosensweig,' 'Gypsy,' 'The Enemy is Dead,' 'Something Different,' 'It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's Superman,' and 'The Riot Act.' She won two Golden Globes and earned a further Golden Globe nomination, as well as an Emmy nomination for the TV series 'Alice.'
