MCC Theater has announced a 2-week extension for its current New York premiere of Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties, a new comedy written by Jen Silverman and directed by Mike Donahue, which began previews at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on August 16, 2018, and is set for an official opening on September 12. The limited engagement will now run through to October 7, 2018 (instead of September 23).

Synopsis: "Meet five different women named Betty: one rich, one lonely, one charismatic, one lovelorn, and one who keeps working on her truck. Oh, and one has decided to stage a production of that play-within-a-play by... that old English guy, what's his name? Ah, forget it. In Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties, five women collide at the intersection of rage, love, and the "thea-tah," provoking each other to take a look in the mirror and face the person they didn't know they could be. This New York premiere comedy invites us all to be a little braver, live a little louder, laugh a little harder, and unleash our inner Betty."

The cast includes (in alphabetical order) Dana Delany (Betty 1), Lea DeLaria (Betty 4), Adina Verson (Betty 2), Ana Villafañe (Betty 3), and Chaunté Wayans (Betty 5).

Ms. Delany is a two-time Emmy Award winner and two-time Golden Globe nominee, perhaps best known for her TV roles as Katherine Mayfair on "Desperate Housewives" and as Colleen McMurphy on "China Beach". Ms. DeLaria is an Obie Award winner and also plays Big Boo on Netflix's hit series "Orange Is the New Black". Ms. Verson is perhaps best known for her starring role in Indecent, both at the Vineyard Theatre and on Broadway, whilst Ms. Villafañe shot to fame as Gloria Estefan in the Broadway premiere of On Your Feet! And finally, Ms. Wayans is a comedian and actress, who also appeared in the film "Fifty Shades of Black".

The creative team behind Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties features scenic design by Dane Laffrey, costume design by Dede Ayite, lighting design by Jen Schriever, sound design by Palmer Hefferan, and projection design by Caite Hevner.

Please note: The full title of the play is Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties; In Essence, A Queer and Occasionally Hazardous Exploration; Do You Remember When You Were In Middle School And You Read About Shackleton And How He Explored the Antarctic? Imagine the Antarctic As a Pussy and It's Sort of Like That.

Collective Rage: A Play in 5 Betties Tickets are available now for performances through to October 7, 2018.
