Love, Loss, and What I Wore announces new rotating cast members

Love, Loss, and What I Wore announces new rotating cast members Michele Lee (Tale of the Allergist's Wife), Tony Award-winner Debra Monk (Curtains), Tracee Ellis Ross ("Girlfriends") and Casey Wilson ("Saturday Night Live") will join the rotating company of Love, Loss, And What I Wore from 6 - 31 Jan 2009, alongside the returning Katie Finneran. The comedy opened at the Westside Theatre on 1 Oct 2009, following previews from 21 Sep, for what was initially scheduled to be a twelve week engagement, but has since been extended by three months through to 28 Mar 2010. Directed by Karen Carpenter, Love, Loss, And What I Wore is a collection of vignettes and monologues based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman, as well as on the recollections of the Ephrons' friends. "'The Vagina Monologues' without the vaginas," is how the Ephrons describe this theatrical event. The show opened to mostly good reviews: "akin to a warm estrogen bath" (NY Times); "By turns funny, poignant, and occasionally rueful" (AP); "a bittersweet meditation on the joys and tribulations of women's lives" The current cast features Mary Birdsong, Tyne Daly, Lisa Joyce, Jane Lynch and Mary Louise Wilson. The show, which will have a rotating cast troughout its run, will welcome a completely new cast from 17 Nov 2009, starring Kristin Chenoweth, Lucy DeVito, Capathia Jenkins, Rhea Perlman and Rita Wilson. From 16 Dec - 3 Jan the show will then feature Lucy Devito, Katie Finneran, Capathia Jenkins, Natasha Lyonne and Mary Louise Wilson. The creative team features sets by Jo Winiarski, costumes by Jessica Jahn, lighting by Jeff Croiter and sound by Walter Trarbach. A portion of the production's proceeds will benefit Dress for Success, a charity that provides work clothing and job support for low-income women. Audience members will be invited to donate their gently-used purses and other accessories in the theatre lobby. Michele Lee is known for her Emmy-nominated role as 'Karen Mackenzie' in the CBS series "Knots Landing." On Broadway she has been nominated for Tony Awards for her work in 'The Tale of the Allergist's Wife' and 'Seesaw.' In 1970 she played opposite Dean Jones in the Disney classic 'The Love Bug.' Ms. Lee has starred in and produced numerous films for television including CBS's Emmy-nominated 'Big Dreams' and 'Broken Hearts: The Dottie West Story.' Debra Monk won a Tony Award for her role as 'Geneva' in 'Redwood Curtain,' and has been nominated for Tony's for her work in 'Picnic,' 'Steel Pier' and 'Curtains.' Off-Broadway she was awarded an OBIE for her role as 'Leona Samish' in 'The Time of the Cuckoo.' In 1999 Monk won a Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series fhr her appearance as 'Katie Sipowicz' in 'NYPD Blue.' Tracee Ellis Ross theatre credits include Los Angeles productions of What Would Jimi Do?, The Vagina Monologues and Blackout. She is best known for her role as 'Joan Clayton ' in the CBS sitcom series "Girlfriends." Casey Wilson was a featured player on 'Saturday Night Live' and her film credits include 'For Your Consideration' and Nora Ephron's 'Julie and Julia.' She regularly performs sketch and improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater.
