Long Day's Journey Into Night delays Opening Night

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced that the Opening Night of their upcoming revival of Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey Into Night at the American Airlines Theatre has been delayed and will now take place on 27 April 2016.

It was originally scheduled to be held on 19 April 2016 and has been re-scheduled after the Tony Awards eligibility cut-off date was moved back to 28 April 2016.

Long Day's Journey Into Night will still begin previews at the American Airlines Theatre on 31 March 2016 and play a limited engagement through to 26 June 2016 as part of Roundabout's 50th Anniversary season.

Synopsis: "Long Day's Journey Into Night is the tale of an ordinary summer's day with extraordinary consequences, which tells the story of the Tyrone family and their battle to unearth - and conceal - a lifetime of secrets."

Directed by Jonathan Kent, the cast of Long Day's Journey Into Night includes Oscar and Emmy Award winner Jessica Lange (Mary Tyrone), Golden Globe winner and Tony nominee Gabriel Byrne (James Tyrone), Oscar nominee Michael Shannon (James Tyrone, Jr.), and Tony Award winner John Gallagher Jr. (Edmond Tyrone). Ms Lange will reprise her Olivier-nominated performance from the 2000 West End production.

Full casting and creative team information will be announced at a later date.

Jessica Lange made her Broadway debut as Blanche Du Bois in 'A Streetcar Named Desire' in 1992. She also appeared in the 2005 revival of 'The Glass Menagerie.' She won Oscars for 'Blue Sky' in 1995 and 'Tootsie' in 1983, and received further nominations for 'Music Box' (1990), 'Sweet Dreams' (1986), 'Country' (1985) and 'Frances' (1983). In addition, she has received 5 Golden Globe wins and 10 nominations. She also picked up 2 Emmy Awards for 'American Horror Story' (2012 and 2014) and one for 'Grey Gardens' (2009), along with 3 more Emmy nominations. Her many screen credits also include 'Big Fish,' 'Cape Fear,' 'The Vow,' and 'King Kong.'

Michael Shannon made his Broadway debut in the 2012-13 production of 'Grace' at the Cort Theatre. Off-Broadway credits include 'Mistakes Were Made,' 'Our Town,' 'The Little Flower of East Orange,' 'Bug,' and 'Killer Joe.' He earned an Oscar nomination in 2009 for "Revolutionary Road." Other screen credits include "Man of Steel," "Boardwalk Empire," "The Iceman," "Take Shelter," "8 Mile," "Jonah Hex," "Pearl Harbor," and "Groundhog Day."

Gabriel Byrne earned a Tony nomination in 2000 for his Broadway debut in 'A Moon for the Misbegotten.' He also appeared in the 2005 revival of 'A Touch of the Poet.' He won a Golden Globe for 'In Treatment' (2009) and also picked up 2 Emmy nominations (2008 and 2009). His many screen credits include 'The Usual Suspects,' 'Miller's Crossing,' 'End of Days,' 'Stigmata,' 'Enemy of the State,' 'The Man in the Iron Mask,' 'Little Women,' and 'Ghost Ship.'

John Gallagher Jr. won a Tony Award in 2007 for 'Spring Awakening.' His other Broadway credits include 'Rabbit Hole,' 'American Idiot,' and 'Jerusalem.' His screen credits include 'Short Term 12,' 'Pieces of April,' and 'Jonah Hex.'
