Initial casting announced for world premiere of White Noise at the Public Theater

Daveed Diggs, Sheria Irving & Zoë Winters to star in Suzan-Lori Parks' world premiere play.

The Public Theater has announced three of the cast members to star in the upcoming world premiere of White Noise, written by Suzan-Lori Parks.

The initial casting for White Noise includes Tony Award winner Daveed Diggs, Sheria Irving and Zoë Winters, with further casting to be announced at a later date.

Daveed Diggs will play the role of Leo. Best known for originating the roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in smash hit musical Hamilton, Diggs has also lent his voice to animated shows including Bob's Burgers and Bojack Horseman, as well as appearing in "The Get Down" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt," both for Netflix.

Sheria Irving will play the role of Misha. Her previous theatre credits include Romeo and Juliet at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre, as well as Off-Broadway productions which include Crowndation: I Will Not Lie to David at the National Black Theatre and Fit for a Queen at the Classical Theatre of Harlem.

Zoë Winters will play Dawn. Previously appearing in a production of Much Ado About Nothing at the Public Theater, her additional Off-Broadway credits include The Last Match for Roundabout Theatre Company, as well as The Harvest, 4000 Miles and Shows for Days for Lincoln Center Theater.

White Noise is set to begin previews at the Public's Anspacher Theater on March 5, 2019, before an official opening on March 20 and a limited run through to April 14, 2019.

Synopsis: "White Noise is a story about race, friendship, and our rapidly unraveling social contract. Long-time friends and lovers Leo, Misha, Ralph, and Dawn are educated, progressive, cosmopolitan, and woke. But when a racially motivated incident with the cops leaves Leo shaken, he decides extreme measures must be taken for self-preservation. This fierce new drama asks the question: what happens when the unspoken and the unspeakable come head-to-head?"

White Noise is written by Suzan-Lori Parks and directed by Oskar Eustis. The rest of the creative team are yet to be announced.

White Noise Tickets are available now for performances from March 5 through to April 14, 2019.
