As Aaron Sorkin's record-breaking stage adapation of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird makes history again today by becoming the first-ever Broadway play to be performed at New York City's Madison Square Garden, producers have now announced a new leading man.

Oscar nominee and two-time Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear is scheduled to make his Broadway debut on April 21, 2020, when he takes over the coveted role of Atticus Finch in the smash hit play. Current star, Tony and four-time Academy Award nominee Ed Harris is set to play his final performance in the role on April 19.

Greg Kinnear is perhaps best known for his 1998 Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for his performance in "As Good as It Gets," as well as film appearances in the likes of "Sabrina," "You've Got Mail," and "Little Miss Sunshine." His small screen credits include "House of Cards," "Rake," and Emmy-nominated performances in "Modern Family" and "The Kennedys."

Alongside Ed Harris, the current principal cast includes Nina Grollman (as Scout Finch), Nick Robinson (as Jem Finch), Taylor Trensch (as Dill Harris), Kyle Scatliffe (as Tom Robinson), Patricia Conolly (as Mrs. Henry Dubose), Manoel Felciano (as Horace Gilmer), LisaGay Hamilton (as Calpurnia), Russell Harvard (as Link Deas and Boo Radley), Neal Huff (as Bob Ewell), Christopher Innvar (as Sheriff Heck Tate), Ted Koch (as Mr. Cunningham), Liv Rooth (as Miss Stephanie), Eliza Scanlen (as Mayella Ewell), M. Emmet Walsh (as Judge Taylor), and William Youmans (as Mr. Roscoe and Dr. Reynolds).

To Kill a Mockingbird, newly adapted for the stage by Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin and directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, began previews at at the Shubert Theatre on November 1, 2018, ahead of an official opening on December 13.

Based on an event that occurred near her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama in the 1930s, Harper Lee's story of racial injustice and the destruction of childhood innocence centers on small-town lawyer and single father Atticus Finch (modeled after Lee's father, attorney Amasa Lee), his young daughter Scout, her older brother Jem, and their mysterious neighbor, the reclusive Arthur 'Boo' Radley. Written during the early stages of the Civil Rights Movement - at a time when Jim Crow laws were still in effect in many Southernstates - Lee's novel held a mirror to the culture of racism of the Deep South.

The creative team behind To Kill a Mockingbird features original music by Adam Guettel, scenic design by Miriam Buether, costume design by Ann Roth, lighting design by Jennifer Tipton, and sound design by Scott Lehrer.

To Kill a Mockingbird is produced on Broadway by Scott Rudin, Barry Diller, and Lincoln Center Theater.

To Kill a Mockingbird Tickets are available now for performances through September 6, 2020.
